We currently run two programmes, the Breathe Programme and the Six Steps to Domestic Abuse Insight Programme.

Our programmes have been designed to help victims and survivors to gain a better understanding of domestic abuse and support them with their recovery to rebuild their lives after their experiences.

Please find more about our programmes below. You may wish to compare which programme would suit you best.

Breathe

Breathe is available to people who are currently living with an abuser, as well as people who have left abusive partners. We believe that by completing domestic abuse-related work in a group setting, people will feel less isolated and benefit from the support of others.

Throughout the programme, participants will cover:

  • Safety planning
  • The definition and dynamics of domestic abuse
  • The impact of domestic abuse
  • The impact of domestic abuse on children
  • Understanding our emotions
  • Self esteem
  • Moving on and managing our emotions
  • Boundaries and assertiveness
  • Healthy relationships - including warning signs of an abuser

The Breathe Programme offers a safe space in which people can talk about their experiences and gain knowledge to empower them and support them in healthy relationships in the future.

Please be aware when making a referral, that places will be offered following a comprehensive assessment with the victim/survivor.

Six Steps to Domestic Abuse Insight

The Six Steps to Domestic Abuse Insight programme has been designed to help victims and survivors to gain a better understanding of domestic abuse. Participants will be supported to gain knowledge of the definition of domestic abuse, dynamics, impact on children, and ways to keep safe and remain safe.

Participants will also be supported to understand that the abuse is not their fault. We believe that gaining information about domestic abuse will help start the process of recovery to rebuild participant's lives after their experiences of domestic abuse.

We run separate Six Steps to Domestic Abuse Insight programmes for women and men who are victims and survivors of abuse.

We deliver the course online and face to face, during the day and evening to reach as many people as possible.

The topics covered in the Six Steps programme include:

  • Safety
  • What is domestic abuse – the dynamics, power and control
  • The cycle of abuse, why it is hard to leave, and who is responsible
  • Impact of domestic abuse on children
  • Understanding feelings, assertiveness, and boundaries
  • Healthy relationships, including warning signs

Please note victims and survivors are able to attend the virtual group programme as long as other household members are not present, and for the evening group children are in bed or in separate rooms.

Please be aware that places will be offered following a comprehensive assessment with the victim/survivor.
