At GDASS, we understand that everyone’s situation is different. Our Floating Support team is here to offer one-to-one support that is completely tailored around you and your needs. Your Floating Support worker will help you to understand more about domestic abuse and the dynamics of abuse. They will work with you to create a personalised safety plan to help you and your family stay safe.

Support can be provided in a way that works best for you – whether that’s face to face, over the phone, or by video call, and usually lasts between 6-12 weeks depending on what you need.

Floating Support Workers can provide support around:

  • Safety planning
  • Increasing awareness of domestic abuse
  • GDASS Six Steps programme on a 121 basis
  • Confidence building
  • Boundary setting
  • Advocacy between you and agencies
  • Finances related to domestic abuse
  • Housing related to domestic abuse
  • Signposting to other agencies

You and your Floating Support worker will agree a support plan together, which will be shaped around your specific needs. If you need support from other services such as housing, solicitors, social care, etc. your Floating Support worker can connect you with the right people.

Our Floating Support team are trained specialists, with experience supporting LGBT+ communities, male victims, and those experiencing or at risk of Honour-based abuse.

We can also arrange interpreters to make sure you are fully supported and understood.

You don’t have to face things alone – we are here to help you feel safer, stronger, and more in control.
